Ryan McClymont is a visual storyteller who grew up outside of Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Grand Valley State University with a double Major in Photography and English. After graduation he joined the United States Army spending two years as an enlisted photojournalist and public affairs specialist, and four years as a combat engineer officer. He deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Combat Action Badge. Ryan earned his MFA in photography from the Academy of Art University while also working as a multimedia and public affairs specialist with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He currently writes and documents water, ecosystems, climate change and natural hazards science as a public affairs specialist with the U.S. Geological Survey. He lives in Portland, OR.
